Install properly sloped mortar bed or pre-fabricated pan with liner to ensure water drains completely to the weep holes.
Waterproof Backer Board
Use cement board or foam boards designed for wet environments, not standard drywall or moisture-resistant materials.
Membrane Application
Apply liquid or sheet waterproofing membranes (RedGard, Schluter, or Laticrete) to all walls, floor, and transitions.
Sealed Corners & Penetrations
Use waterproof tape, corners, and flanges at all seams, changes of plane, and plumbing penetrations for complete protection.
